Report delivery
Formal instructions are received from solicitors outlining the legal questions to be addressed, relevant case chronology, and supporting medical documentation. An initial conflict check is undertaken, followed by review of available records to ensure suitability for instruction. The expert duty to the court is confirmed at this stage.
A structured psychological assessment is conducted, including a detailed clinical interview and the administration of standardised psychometric measures where appropriate. Assessment is guided by DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and focuses on diagnosis, functional impact, and psychological causation in relation to the index event.
A CPR Part 35-compliant expert witness report is prepared, providing an independent opinion on diagnosis, causation, prognosis, and functional impact. The report includes clear clinical reasoning, evidential basis, and where appropriate, treatment considerations. Reports are structured for use in civil litigation and other medico-legal proceedings.
